Common Traditions and Practices in Russian Culture

Russia is a country with a tradition that spans thousands of years; therefore, it is common for traditions, beliefs and superstitions that form an inseparable part of its culture. Here is a list of common traditions that form a part of Russian culture.- Christmas: While the rest of the world celebrates Christmas on the 25 of December, Russians who follow the Julian calendar celebrate it on the 7th of January. During the soviet era, celebrating Christmas was not allowed, but people did celebrate Novym Godom, where they welcome Ded Moroz or Father Frost with gusto.Today, Christmas is one of the most popular functions in Russia. Festivities begin from Christmas Eve itself, with people fasting, until the first star appears. Once the first star appears, the festivities begin, with people eating Kutya or a type of porridge. However, meals begin with the head of the family (generally the father) leading the family for the prayers. The prayer is followed by the partaking of the holy bread that is first dipped in honey and then in garlic. While honey symbolizes sweetness, garlic symbolizes bitterness.- Easter: Just as Christmas was restricted during the communist era, so was Easter. However, with the end of the soviet regime, Easter gained prominence. Throughout Russia, you would find people greeting one another with "Khristos Voskres," or Christ has risen. There is also the tradition of people sharing their wealth with the poor and needy. They also greet one another by gifting Easter eggs. Easter is also the time to enjoy great Russian food that's made available in plenty. Cakes, puddings, kulich...there's everything for everyone.- Russian Tea: If there is something that is as popular as Vodka in Russia, it is the habit of drinking tea. This beverage was introduced to the Russians in the 17th century. The practice was first introduced to the nobility, who practiced it as an elaborate ceremony. This was later introduced to commoners who loved to drink their tea in the outdoors. This also led to the popular use of Samovars or tea urns.Today, tea is served everywhere and at all times. Tea is accompanied with cookies, sandwiches and a lot of sweets.Ivan Kupala: Every year on the night of June 23rd, Russians from around the country honor Ivan (the Russian name for John the Baptist). This ritual is as old as the ancient pagan times, where people honored Kupalo, the god of fertility. Christians looking to blend pagan traditions with Christian traditions started Ivan Kupala. The festival is for the young at heart. While boys jump over bonfires, girls float flower wreaths in rivers. These wreathes are often lit with candles, to gain an insight on the future of their relationship. There are plenty of other traditions that form an integral part of Russian culture. To get more information click here Большой герб Российской империи

Gossip at the Office

No one likes it when other people talk about them in a negative way. However, it seems that hardly any of us can resist getting caught up in the occasional gossiping that can take place when we are in an office setting. When I worked as a police officer, I was both shocked and disappointed at how much gossiping took place throughout the department! Because we were so closely knit, it wasn't uncommon to overhear one person talking negatively about someone else and something that had taken place either while that person was on duty or off duty. It seemed as if the gossiping was worse if police officers hung out with each other outside of work. I had a few friends from my police academy that I would hang out with outside of work, but we were always respectful about what we said regarding one another and never talked badly about the other person while we were at work. However, the older officers and other administrative people who had been there for a while would speculate and gossip about the newcomers and about each other as if it was no big deal.Eventually, I was able to witness the suspension of several officers based on gossip that had flown around the department. In several instances, when the negative gossip about various officers turned out to be true, I witnessed the dismissal of several people. It was both unfortunate and sad that something that had started out so small had led to several officers getting fired. Upon leaving the police department and entering into the private sector of the working population, I found that while the gossip was not nearly as bad, it was still prevalent. If you work in a small office, it can be extremely easy to get caught up in jealousy or speculation- all of which leads to whispering, snickering and messages back and forth about what is going on with whom and who is getting paid more than someone else. The negative side to gossip is that it can weaken company morale and eventually lead to the downfall of a company based on lack of motivation, intimidation or even self criticism because you know and/or think that others are judging you. While there may not be a lot that you can do to prevent gossiping from taking place at your office or place of work, you do have control over whether or not you choose to become an active participant in the gossip that is going on. If you feel comfortable enough doing so, you can voice your concern and/or opinion over how you disagree with talking about other people. If you do not feel comfortable confronting others about the gossiping that is taking place, then it may be something that you will want to meet with your supervisor privately about so that he or she can address it as an anonymous complaint. Whatever you do, if you find yourself among others who are gossiping about another employee or co-worker, imagine how you would feel if they were speaking the same way about you and then base you reaction on this. The easiest thing that you can do is to just walk away.To get more information click here gossip lanka

Wholesale Clothing: A Quick Shopping Guide

Often, businesses do wholesale clothing purchases because they hope to sell them later on retail in their stores. For shoppers, buying wholesale clothing is a good way to save money because of the discounts that are offered. Buying of clothes and other apparel can be quite expensive, especially if you have a taste for designer clothes. However, there is a way that one can get the best deals and save money on the same items. This is by buying items on wholesale, which offers certain discounts that will ultimately reduce the total cost of the clothes bought.Shopping for wholesale fashion clothing can be done by an individual, who will enjoy the same benefits that business customers do. You can also shop for wholesale clothing by teaming up with your family, relatives, and friends. What your group needs to do is list down the items they need for everyone, as well as take note of the color preferences, sizes, and any other important details. This is done so that everyone gets exactly what they want and make them feel like they picked the items personally.Another thing that you need to remember is that it is advisable for you to do some research. The considerations that you might make while shopping for male designer jeans will be different for the things that you need to remember when looking for wholesale clothes for children. You should do extensive research and look carefully at the prices quoted on that list for all items from the discount store where the clothes will be bought. This price comparison is important because there are clothes when bought alone might be cheaper as compared to buying several pieces wholesale. If there are some preferences for certain brands, then those brands should be checked if they are available from the store. Alternatively, contacting the manufacturer might be a good idea so that you can have information on where to find that brand. The last thing you should do, whether alone or with your group, is to compare which discount wholesale store has the best prices. There will always be stores that have higher prices than their competitors. These are the ones that should be targeted. However, restraint should be taken when the deal sounds too good because in that case one might be dealing with a wholesaler that is selling either unlicensed goods or knock offs. This can lead to some issues with the authorities. Be careful if you are planning to resell the items you bought from a wholesale clothing store because they might be counterfeits or replicas. To get more information click here wholesale dropshiping or you can also click here Online Outlet Stores

Power Behind The Xbox360

Although Microsoft's Xbox was able to sell millions and millions of units worldwide, it was still considerably outsold by its competitor, Sony's PlayStation. In this day, wherein another revolution in video and gaming technology is at hand, the Xbox360 is more promising than ever.

What difference does the Xbox360 hold against its predecessor? Well, just like all gaming consoles, it is basically a computer that is designed to run video game programs. The difference is that they focus specifically on this function alone.

So how does the latest model from Microsoft differ from any other gaming console. As was mentioned earlier, the Xbox360 is a computer designed for playing video games. But aside from this, it was also designed to perform as a complete stand-alone entertainment system. To break it down, this new console can allow users to connect via a network, it can copy, stream, and download all sorts of media. This would, of course include in its arsenal, the ability to download and play HD movies, audio, as well as digital photos and games.

Now, since we know that all gaming consoles are simply computers designed for playing video games, let us take a look at the heart of all computers – the CPU. Just the same, video game consoles have a processor that would, of course, 'process' all the information being fed into the system. You could think of it as similar to a car's engine – it is the one that powers every function of the whole system. The latest innovation in the Xbox360 is that, they “modified the engine” to be able to deliver optimum performance for players.

Traditionally, CPUs process information via a single path. The more technical term for this is a thread. Now what the latest edition of the Xbox is bragging about is that under its hood, is a processor, or a core, that is able to process two threads simultaneously. This means that all the information that is being fed into it, is processed more effectively and efficiently because the “brain” is “multi-tasking”. Meaning, information about sound could be processed via one path, the other for the video graphics, etc. If you've ever noticed, past video games would either pause a bit or stutter occasionally. This is because the system is being bombarded by too much information, and it takes time for their 'brains' to be able to cope with the demands.

In addition to this, Microsoft has incorporated with this technology, a multi-core system that allows them to integrate more than one processor into a single chip. This is by far the latest innovation by hardware manufacturers – and yes, Microsoft has included it in their new Xbox game console. Having the ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time, it allows the game developers to come with strategies on how to maximize the potential of the machine, to deliver optimum performance.

This is the heart of why the Xbox has evolved to become even more powerful. There are a lot of other features about the new Xbox360 that definitely boosts its performance. But the heart of all of this, is of course the core that runs everything in it.
